I am always inspired by the ideas of others! Teaching the recent fundraising masterclasses in collaboration with Create for Ukraine createforukraine.wordpress.com (ЗБІР ~ FUNDRAISING) has shown me, yet again, how others see different things in the embroidery that is so familiar to me. I would LOVE to speak with you about a special piece for your home or to gift to someone dear to you! The best way to arrive at an idea is a good and energizing conversation about the embroidery itself and how it would be used.

I have some caveats that are important.

I will not be able to complete a bespoke piece to a deadline. This is simply due to the same life factors as everyone else! Some of my larger and more detailed pieces have taken well over a year. For example, BIG RED #2 ~ ВЕЛИКА ЧЕРВОНЮХА НОМЕР 2 took around 18 months of consistent work without deviating to other projects! If you need an embroidered piece in a short time or by a certain date, please have a look at STORE.

I may not be able to recreate exactly a piece you have already seen on my page or elsewhere.

Some pieces are not photographed with enough close up or detail to generate a graphed design from the available image. If that’s the case, I can certainly work with your idea to find other designs answering to the characteristics that you love.

Another reason is availability of fabrics. I may have used up the last of a certain fabric I had at home. Ordering from a supplier is always possible, but it can take up to several months for the fabric to arrive. They are sourced from overseas and some are only produced in batches! However, if that’s what I need to do, I’ll do it! On the other hand, some linens are readily available. If we are able to discuss the “look” of a piece, I can definitely choose an appropriate fabric and thereafter thread shades that will make the design look really special. I am confident that I will be able to create something very stunning for you. It is, after all, Ukrainian embroidery!

Of the huge number of stitching techniques used in Ukrainian embroidery, I am adept at a handful. I would prefer not to be self-teaching on a bespoke piece, so that you receive something really refined and gorgeous.

If you’ve had a look at the way I describe the creation of my pieces, you’ll see that I will change up colours to suit one another and create an effect. It is important to me that my work retains what I think of as “Ukrainianness” – a close relationship to authentic, folk Ukrainian embroidery. Of course, this is a subjective matter. I prefer not to use colour schemes or choices that are thoroughly unrelated to the design, its region of origin or that deviate significantly from tradition. The same holds for me for fabric shades.

My monogram will be on the piece.

I will ask for a 30% deposit before I begin sourcing materials and working on the composition and thread choices. Please have a look at my pieces displayed in the STORE for a general sense of costings. There will be an added surcharge for the bespoke nature of the piece.
