Servetky (singular servetka) are an easy pleasure for me. They can be tiny and quick or large and lush. Servetka-sized pieces of fabric lurk in the cupboard and make their ways into my hands, or a long-admired servetka from a book nags at my imagination and finally becomes physical and real. I love finding linear designs in books, making them turn a neat right angle on graph paper and then I’m away. Servekty seem so simple – flat bits of fabric turned into something gorgeous, without the need to sew or make another shape – but can absolutely pack a visual punch.
